Mjølnir [myawl-nir] - Scandinavian Mythology, the war hammer of Thor, the god of lightning, thunder, wind, and rain. Mjølnir is depicted as one of the most fearsome weapons of the Norse gods, capable of leveling mountains. He used it as a weapon against the Jotuns, heard as thunder by humans. Mjølnir was the symbol of regeneration. It was not just about destruction. Thor defends the world from natural and spiritual disasters.
Our spelling of Mjølnir is from Faroese. It is the Germanic language of the Faroe Islands.
